Its vertical guide function and three-in-one capability — drilling, tapping, and thread cutting — were engineered for accuracy down to fine tolerances, without requiring the bulk or complexity of a drill press.
What set the ST3 apart in the eyes of the IFA jury wasn't just what it does, but how approachable it feels while doing it. The design strips away the intimidating, purely functional aesthetic that dominates the power tool category, replacing it with a form factor that feels intentional — closer to a piece of considered industrial design than a job-site tool. That combination of technical precision and design restraint is, in many ways, exactly what the Best Design award was created to recognize.
SPESYN also used the show to preview upcoming safety innovations for the ST3 platform, including an anti-kickback protection system designed to reduce the risk of wrist and arm injury if a bit or tap unexpectedly jams — a detail that drew particular interest from attendees with hands-on trade or DIY backgrounds.
